There is this girl who is very shy but she is outgoing sometimes. Her name is Martha, she is beautiful and your average teen girl. She hangs out with friends when she wants to, she does her normal chores and go to school. She even plays the piano well. She lives with her parents and has an older sister in college. She started high school 2 years ago and is now on her 3rd year. But suddenly, her family had to move because they wanted to stay near her sister’s college and dorm. Her parents then enrolled her in a school and her sister would always visit them during the weekends. She feels bad about going to a new school and on her first day she was very shy and the only time she talked when she was introducing herself to the class, other than that, she stayed silent the whole day.

For the next few days, she felt insecure with her environment and oftentimes felt like everyone was watching her. Because she felt insecure she got average grades and every time she would make a mistake at least one person would notice and laugh at her. There was this one time where she another girl accidentally dropped her lunch on her hair and it soaked her uniform. Unfortunately, this was one of the times where everyone was looking at her. The whole cafeteria laughed at her, Martha then rushed to the bathroom to clean her hair and uniform. Luckily, no one was in the bathroom, she ran to the mirror and washed her hair. After what seemed like an hour, she fixed her hair but her uniform was all stained, she didn’t speak for the rest of the day and cried herself to sleep that night.

She tried to hide it from everybody that she was hurt and afraid. She was fighting through her third year of high school, and what “better” way she can do it is by going to a school that she doesn’t know where. After a few days, things started to get better, but people who were mean to her got more mean. Then someone, out of the blue sat down on her table. Her name was Jenny, she was smart, popular and everyone wanted to be her friend. Despite being a popular girl, she was very nice. They talked the whole lunch and had fun. That was the first time Martha ever smiled in that school. At the end of their break, Jenny told her to meet up with her tomorrow because she will introduce her to the other girls in the popular group.

She was so excited the day they met, she was expecting the other girls to laugh at her, but she was totally wrong. All the girls were as nice as Jenny was. She then started hanging out with them a lot and even invited them to her house once. She started to be happy but still, the same people were making funny of her. She got better grades but she still felt something was missing. Then the opportunity hit her, she noticed a poster on the school’s bulletin board, it said that there will be a music competition and that anyone can join. The winner gets a book as a token. She called her friends and when they saw that they encouraged her to join because they knew that she knows how to play the piano well. But she feels doubtful because only her friends group knows it. She believed in her friends and registered for the competition.

She practiced well on a piece called La Campanella by Franz Lizst which is a lively and very bouncy classical piece that will surely catch the audience’s ears. On the day of the concert her friends supported her well. People were surprised that she was there but she remained silent in the preparation room. She made her rounds on the piano and then she was called. Her heart was beating fast but she knew that she would well because she has a good piece and knows how to play the piano well. She sat down on the stool then she heard the metronome and started playing. She played beautifully and didn’t miss a single note. The judges were amazed and the audience gave her a standing ovation and all those that made fun of her, were amazed. The best part was that she won the competition and her friends couldn’t be happier than ever.

Her family was so happy and with Martha’s friends they all went out for dinner. They chatted all night and all were happy. There wasn’t a single sad face in that group that night. The next day, everyone was congratulating her and even people who she didn’t know was talking to her. She keeps on hanging out with her friends and now she is the one who wants to be everyone’s friend. Her grades went up and at the end of the semester, she was part of the honor roll.

From that day on, she never was that shy girl that was laughed at. She is now one of the most popular girls in school and everyone wants to be her friend. Martha is still one of the best pianists the school has ever seen. She is until today an outgoing, friendly, and kind person we all want to be.
